The Sutton at 444 East 57th…the 13th floor – Monroe’s apartment. It’s a pretty stone building, strong columns flanking either side of the door. I imagine Marilyn running out to the street to jump into her 55’ Ford Thunderbird, Milton Greene or Arthur Miller at the wheel… the car, a gift from Greene her one-time business partner, long-time friend and a legendary photographer- was almost synonymous with her time in and about New York. In interviews Milton’s wife Amy is said to have spent hours with Marilyn driving up the FDR the convertible top down, sailing along the highway, wind blowing…happy as two Montauk Clams…
